Richard Boxall turned professional in 1982 and secured a place on the European tour that same year. 1990 proved to be his best year winning the Italian Open and finishing seventeenth in the order of merit. However his most famous golfing moment came in 1991 during the third round of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale. Playing alongside Colin Montgomerie, he was just two shots off the lead when he suffered a stress fracture of his left leg whilst teeing off at the ninth hole. After seventeen years on the tour, his professional career ended in 2000.
Following his retirement from professional sports, Richard seamlessly transitioned into a distinguished career as a golf commentator. Initially showcasing his expertise on the BBC, his articulate and engaging commentary style quickly won over audiences on Sky Sports. His insightful analysis and upbeat personality have endeared him to golfing enthusiasts worldwide.
